First Look at the new Saint: Promo Trailer

Deadline Hollywood has posted the exclusive first footage of Adam Rayner as Simon Templar, alias The Saint!

Adam Rayner and Eliza Dushku look absolutely fantastic in the trailer promo for the new TV series that is based on Leslie Charteris’ Saint franchise.

The backdoor pilot was directed by Simon West from a script by Jesse Alexander. Brad Krevoy’s film and TV production company MPCA is behind the project, which will be screened at MIPTV next week, with MPCA’s Francisco Gonzalez handling international sales.

Deadline reports that there is interest in the series from U.S. networks.

Now watch the trailer here, and see if you can spot all the amazing co-stars such as James Remar, Enrique Murciano, Thomas Kretschmann, Greg Grunberg, Sir Roger Moore, and Ian Ogilvy!

Well I don't know what to say but I'm love with this trailer. Good to see 2 former Saints Ian Ogilvy & Roger Moore. They must be proud to take part.

Being an avid fan of the original Saint TV series, I have found myself a little disappointed from what I have seen. The problem with the creative team is that they seem to miss the charm of what made the original so good. Even 50 years later! This new techno flare on the music, the now 2 tag team, and the need to bring back elements of the ill fated movie.

We need a suave Saint. Sofisticated, yet super smart. Someone who actually cares more for others than himself (hence the name the Saint). And with a destination no continent can keep him away from. Plots to scripts that make you think that each episode is as intelligent as they ever were. Finally, the music. The theme done withnthe same respect that has earned Bond its 50 year reputation. Timeless. THAT is the Saint!

Have to say a little dissapointed with this trailer. on the positive Adam Rayner looks like he will fill the rolę well. unfortunately the rest of the trailer looks like Its chasing Bond a little too much. Its nice to see some elements of the books shining through. One of the enduring characteristics of the The Saint has been that he has been a normal character, suave sophisticated and smart more akin to sherlock holmes but the trailer portrays him as more like james bond. And what of the classic Saint car, new Jag, Volvo or some other classy yet understated car......no a Lamborghini that screams millionaire twat. leslie Charteris on purpose witheld the financial history to add i expect an air of mystery but also i beleive to not put the character out the reach of the average guy making it a fascinating read. But like the slated movie we have "the worlds greatest theif". I highly expect critics will wellcome this show with the same disdain they showed the movie.

Well now that news has reached me that Burn Notice has been canceled after this upcoming season which lets face was somewhat of a copy cat we now have some more room in line ups for Templar. Only this time with a more international flavor. Now for some good screen writers to { carry on and create adventure.}

Now wait, we don't know for sure that it's his regular car, it just might be something he drives for the first adventure, like to fit in with the ungodly that he's after.
As to channeling Bond, yeah I can see that, hopefully that's just marketing and not necessarily character. No news on a pick up, but fingers crossed.

Is there any news on whether this has been picked up as a series, or when the pilot might be broadcast ?

Pat Holm dates back to the thirties - I was over the moon to see her. You want roses how the original Saint books worked, either read one or look at a Diana Rigg Avengers episode.

It might be better if they made it "period".... set in the 1930's era of The Saint's origins.

Nice cameos, but as a fan of the books, this still misses the tone by a mile. Like the commenter above, I have always thought that a 1930s Saint series would work very well. Stop trying to update him!

Not for me. This portrayal of Simon Templar is so awful. As others have said let's have a series based in the 1930s

An unshaved action-hero? Hardly what the Saint was about. He was of course not the man of unlimited means that the ITC series starring Roger Moore was about either, but since Roger Moore is Roger Morre, that can be forgiven (it was not forgiven by Leslie Charteris though.....)

Sidekick? Why is it that all the talentless script writers get to work on the best novels? Mostly of course, they do not even read the novels, they just nick the protagonists name and create a story that bears no resemblance to any novel or short story, and the character of the protagonist is nowhere near the novels protagonist.

Seems like this nes series flopped, well just as good.

That trailer was every bit as disappointing as one can get. The reason they cant sell it speaks volumes.

I think the writers need to go back to the drawing board and bring out something that bares more respect to this timeless character.

I'm sorry, but... no. The Saint is not an action hero. The Saint is the Robin Hood of Modern Crime.

The best screen adaptation of The Saint I've seen recently was not a Saint story - it was the TV series _Leverage_. Showrunner John Rogers even stated that the denouement scene of the season 3 closer, "The San Lorenzo Job", was based on the one in "The Wonderful War". (Granted _Leverage_ was about a team of Robin Hoods - but the Saint used to have a team, too.)

Eliza Dushku as Patricia Holm, though... yes, I can see that working.

(Nor is Mission: Impossible supposed to be an "action" format, but that's another rant.)

Adam Rayner was miscast as The Saint. The Saint does not need a five 'o clock shadow. Adam Rayner lacks the charisma to play Templar. And since when does The Saint get slapped by a woman he has ditched. The Saint is NOT a modern day Jack Sparrow type either. They tried to modernize this version of The Saint unnecessarily. The Saint can be done in any era as long as they stick to the basics. The Saint needs to be suave and not a Bond type character.
I think Roger Moore, Ian Ogilvy and Simon Dutton looked and acted like The Saint (maybe not as much as the one from the books but still managed to do a pretty decent job). I hope the next incarnation of The Saint does not disappoint diehard fans of The Saint. They thought that adding Roger Moore and Ian Ogilvy as minor characters would work but it did not (why didn't they ask Dutton to do a cameo?)
